Our Maths department is a friendly, supportive team that achieves excellent outcomes for all students.

We are proud to be consistently one of the highest ranked departments in Hampshire for Progress 8, with GCSE results around 85%-90% Grade 4+ and around a third of students getting a Grade 7+.

We are a large team of 20 teachers with a diverse range of skills and responsibilities. In addition to the GCSE Mathematics course, we run the GCSE Statistics qualification that students can opt for at KS4, and FSMQ Additional Mathematics.

Some members of the team are part of SLT, and Pastoral House Leaders, and we have teachers who are experienced in mentoring colleagues new to the profession, so we are well-equipped to support recently qualified teachers.

The Learning Leader is passionate about delivering great outcomes for all students, whilst maintaining a positive work-life balance for staff. We have pre-prepared lesson starter programmes for each year group to give a strong routine to the start of all lessons. Our department marking policy is designed to minimise workload whilst maximising the feedback impact on students. We have a comprehensive scheme of work for all year groups and based on tier of entry, which is well resourced.

Outside of teaching responsibilities, we have a cake day every week, and the department enjoy break and lunchtimes together. There is always a Christmas Gathering, usually a meal out, as well as a Summer Barbeque – we are a very sociable team!

Commitment to safeguarding
