The mathematics department has celebrated fantastic progress since the opening of the Academy. We are completely committed to excellence and aspire to be the leading department within the school. We are dedicated to offering students a positive and enriching experience in mathematics through a challenging and inspiring curriculum.

The mathematics department enjoy first class teaching facilities, with each classroom being equipped with an inbuilt networked PC and visualizer, which is connected to an interactive whiteboard with inbuilt audio speakers. Each mathematics classroom is connected to a fantastic lead lesson space. This large space is used for small breakout intervention groups, but also has the capacity to teach multiple groups enabling team teaching. Collaboration is a big focus within the department and the successful applicant will benefit from sharing and contributing to a large bank of excellent resources. All schemes of work are developed collaboratively within the trust-wide mathematics department and are shared in centralised electronic folders. Regular department time is always allocated to team development and improving practice.

The mathematics department is well supported by the school and this allows for extra mathematics interventions to take place within the curriculum. Students are also targeted for morning intervention sessions and for after school support and this has contributed to our strong GCSE results. The department also benefit greatly from being part of a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), which among other advantages, reduces teacher workload and provides more robust and reliable assessment data.
