Teacher of Maths 1.0 FTE job summary
We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join our Mathematics team on a full-time basis to start in September 2020. We would especially encourage applications from current trainees and NQTs, who would have access to a comprehensive range of support and guidance at Toynbee. We would also welcome applications from more experienced teachers.
You will join a highly successful and well-resourced Maths Department that has been enormously successful over the past few years. In the past three years, the Progress 8 Score for Maths has been +0.17 in 2017, +0.27 in 2018, and +0.30 in 2019. This is all built on consistent approaches to teaching and assessment, and having the belief that all children will achieve their potential; the department really does embody the school motto of “Personal Best”. While we are very proud of these outcomes for our students, we remain driven and determined to improve even further. We are keen to employ a teacher who will share in this commitment.
The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire our pupils with outstanding and engaging teaching. Equally, we are committed to offering the right candidate ongoing professional development and career progression. The last two Ofsted inspections have been very positive about the quality of teaching in the school and the positive outcomes for pupils and we want a candidate that will continue the good work being made.
Toynbee School is an expanding school with consistently high achievement and progress across all subjects, in particular the Maths exam results are outstanding. We currently have just under a 1000 pupils on role but this is likely to expand to nearer 1200 over the next few years as the school continues to be oversubscribed.
We welcome visits to our school to see us in action and invite you to come in for an informal chat, tour of the school and to meet our staff.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.
