TEACHER OF MATHS (+ £3k R&R) job summary
We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join our Mathematics team on a full-time basis to start in September 2022. This role is suitable for both NQTs, who would benefit from a comprehensive range of support and guidance, and more experienced teachers alike. We are open to applicants who may be looking for part time work as well as applicants looking for a full-time position.
You will join a highly successful and well-resourced Maths Department that has been enormously successful over the past few years with official Progress 8 scores of +0.17 in 2017, +0.27 in 2018, and +0.30 in 2019. The last two years, whilst grades were awarded differently, remain in line with the previous success of the department. This is all built on consistent approaches to teaching and assessment, and having the belief that all children will achieve their potential; the department really does embody the school motto of “Personal Best”. While we are very proud of these outcomes for our students, we remain driven and determined to improve even further. We are keen to employ a teacher who will share in this commitment.

Maths Department
The main aim of the Maths department at Toynbee is to ensure that pupils achieve their best by instilling them with a love of Maths. We strive to develop our pupils’ mathematical knowledge, their skills and their attitude so they can achieve their full potential.
The department comprises seven hard-working, loyal and enthusiastic team of staff. The departmental leadership structure consists of a Head of Department and a Lower School Maths Leader (responsible for the Key Stage 3 Curriculum).
There are eight Maths classrooms and a departmental office.
Key Stage 3 – Year 7 & 8
• Pupils are taught in set ability groups comprising approximately 25-28 pupils per class.
• Year 7 and 8 pupils are taught their lessons across 7 x 1 hour lessons over 2 weeks.
• There are currently Schemes of Work in place for all topics.
Key Stage 4 – Year 9,10,11
• Pupils are taught across 8 x 1 hour lessons a fortnight over the Key Stage.
• Pupils are taught in set ability groups.
• GCSE Maths (AQA Exam Board) is currently offered to pupils in Key Stage 4.
Curriculum Development
The Department are currently focusing on:
• Ensuring our curriculum is robust, sequential and meaningful and linked to the National Curriculum.
• Further refining the KS4 curriculum to promote even better progress.
• Developing strategies to secure even better outcomes for our most able pupils
Continued Professional Development
The school offers outstanding CPD opportunities. We work closely with the Local Authority and have many links with subject inspectors and local schools. We pride ourselves on an internal training programme which is second to none. All staff are able to contribute to this.
