What the school offers its staff

The development of the new building, which will open in Janaury 2024, will see us nearing capacity as a split-site, medium-scale 11-19 academy. We celebrate the fact that, as a new provision, our culture, ethos and values are ours to define from the beginning, and we are able to decide what is important to take with us into the future as we grow. Your impact on this process will be central to development of the academy.
Over the next year, we will embrace the challenges and opportunities of moving into a new site, continuing to build on our excellent recruitment of staff and students, and providing excellent education and opportunities for an emerging community in a rapidly developing area. The nature of our expansion and growth itself provides a unique leadership challenge, and your ability to both drive and adapt to this growth will be key.

Winterstoke Hundred Academy (WHA) is named after the historic parish of Weston-super-Mare. We are a smaller scaler 11-19 academy, offering a curriculum which celebrates prior learning whilst preparing learners for the challenges of the future. We work closely with our family of partner schools in the Trust, and believe strongly in the importance and benefits of collaboration. Winterstoke Hundred has benefited from funding which has enabled an entirely bespoke and brand new additional site to be built less than a mile away, in Locking Parklands. This will open between 2023 and 2024, and will enable the strengths of each site to be enjoyed by all students. This is a particularly exciting time for WHA - as a new academy, in new buildings, and with new students, we are seizing the opportunity to shape the landscape for our learners, to deliver an exceptional educational experience, and to enable them to fulfil their potential.
