We have an exciting vacancy for an Associate Leader for Computer Science & Digital Learning to join us at The Portsmouth Academy.

As Associate Leader you will lead on the quality of provision in the computing curriculum and for continuous improvement of the school’s digital learning offer. You will support the academy to continue to have a high profile around the transformative impact of teaching with technology and its potential to accelerate students’ learning; and reduce workload for teachers.

The Associate Leader will share responsibility for senior leadership and management for the Academy ensuring continual improvement and high quality, engaging and fulfilling cognitive education for all students that leads to excellent outcomes.

Our School

The Portsmouth Academy is on a journey to becoming a “Microsoft Showcase School” due to our approach to digital learning. The academy has launched a one:one device policy, so every child in Year 7 has their own laptop. We are already seeing the benefits of digital learning such as our students developing their digital skills and truly making learning last. If you have a passion for digital learning then we would love to talk to you about our Principal role and how you can help lead us on our journey to being a Microsoft Showcase School.

We will also be opening a specialist resource provision within the school which will have 48 places for young people with learning and cognition challenges. This will be an all through provision and students will join us in year 5 from our trust schools meaning they will be with The Portsmouth Academy for 7 years allowing us to truly transform their life chances.

  • Have experience of creating a productive learning environment which is engaging and fulfilling for students and staff;
  • Have strong leadership skills; able to inspire others and collaborate effectively for improvement;
  • Ensure that students achieve in the subject of Computing and that digital learning across the schools helps to improve engagement and progress.
  • Design and implement a well-sequenced computing/IT curriculum for KS3 and KS4 which includes skills such as coding, digital creation and working with emerging technologies; and which leads to good uptake of the subject(s) at KS4 and good achievement;
  • Provide additional IT based qualifications for students that allow them to leave the academy ‘future ready’;
  • Promote the use of new and existing technologies through incorporating them into lessons for students; demonstrating advanced professional practice in this area and contributing to whole-school digital development through actively sharing/modelling and promoting the benefits of teaching with technology;
