What skills and experience we're looking for
Qualifications
A degree in an appropriate discipline related to MFL
Teaching qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Knowledge
Strong and secure subject knowledge in Spanish up to GCSE
Strong and secure subject knowledge in both Spanish and French up to GCSE
A good understanding of curriculum development in the specific subject area
Experience
Recent and relevant teaching experience in employment or training
Experience of assessment at Key Stage 3 and KS4
Skills
Able to use a range of teaching and learning strategies
An understanding of how assessment for learning can improve student performance
Confidence in the use of standard computer packages (word, processing, email and spreadsheets) and how these can be used to enhance student learning
Able to use student level data to raise standards
Able to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team
Creative in problem solving together with willingness to take on and try new approaches and ideas
Ability to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and to recognise potential child safeguarding issues
Communicate high expectations to all students
Able to communicate both orally and in writing to students and their parents
Strong ICT skills including SMART board or Promethean

An excellent knowledge and understanding of Spanish up to GCSE is essential, knowledge and understanding of both Spanish and French is desirable. Due to a rapid increase in numbers, following our January 2018 OUTSTANDING Ofsted Report, Outwood Academy Bydales seeks applications from applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role. Outwood Academy Bydales is an 11-16 school located in the beautiful coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea, close to the North York Moors National Park. We are extremely proud of our tradition of serving the families of the community of Marske and surrounding areas. The academy has been part of Outwood Grange Academies Trust, nationally recognised as a high performing academy chain, since September 2014. Our predecessor Bydales School was in special measures and joined Outwood Grange Academies Trust in February 2015. Since then the school has rapidly transformed. In 2018, alongside our Outstanding Ofsted judgement, students achieved incredible results with 89% securing 4+ in both English and Maths. Our Progress 8 and Attainment 8 scores were both the highest in the North East of England, at +0.75 and 59.1 respectively. Likewise, 77% of students securing at least a 5 in both English and Maths, was also the highest in the North East in 2018
