We seek to appoint a Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages on a 1 FTE basis to join our team at George Pindar School. French and German are taught at the School. Applications from candidates seeking part time opportunities are also welcome.

George Pindar School is an 11-16 secondary situated in Scarborough. We are a community school where our colleagues are #proudtobepindar and we are looking positively to the future. We are proud to be an inclusive school and we are oversubscribed in Year 7 and 8. We have the highest aspirations for our students to strive for success, achieve their very best and grow both as individuals and as members of their community. The development of the whole child forms an integral part of our vision; we want the best for every student at George Pindar irrespective of their background. We work together as #TeamPindar to develop our PINDAR values and are well supported by colleagues across the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust to improve in all aspects of our school. The school is very open to new initiatives and ideas and innovation is at the heart of our development; the current MFL curriculum has been enhanced through the latest research about best practice in languages. This small department is extremely supportive and would represent an excellent opportunity for new or more experienced teachers in a school which has a healthy appreciation of languages. Staff benefit from a wide range of professional development opportunities which are specific to the subject area or to wider school improvement and career enhancement, including network groups supported by Hope Sentamu Learning Trust colleagues. There are opportunities to contribute to the wider school community through work as a form tutor and through whole-school initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who wishes to make a difference to young peoples' lives.

The main focus of the Subject Teacher's role is fostering the learning and progress of the pupils in their care. This involves being an effective teacher of pupils as well as of the subject. Quality of preparation, resourcing, planning, subject expertise, teaching skill, pace, challenge, proactive classroom management, effective marking and assessment, high expectations, and positive personal relationships are all central to providing the conditions within which pupils' personal skills, abilities, understanding, learning and progress can be developed.
