Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (Maternity Cover) job summary

Full Time or Part Time

MPS/UPS plus fringe

Start date: April 2027, temporary contract for maternity cover

We are looking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and ambitious teacher of French, who is also able to teach German or Spanish, to join our highly successful Modern Foreign Languages team. The school ensures that languages are at the heart of our curriculum with French, Spanish and German all taught with study of a language compulsory for virtually all students at KS4. All three languages are offered at A level. Results are strong at both GCSE and A level and you would be joining an experienced and friendly team, supported by a language assistant in all three subjects. The faculty offers an amazing range of extra-curricular opportunities with annual exchanges with schools in France, Germany and Spain. Students in Year 8 have the opportunity to go on one of two whole year group European trips in June each year. The department continues to operate a sixth formers into teaching programme, an initiative they pioneered that has been adopted across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to join a high performing school and gain significant experience to further enhance their career, like one of our staff members:

"I came to teaching having worked as a City solicitor for a number of years. I trained with the Alban Federation Initial, which I loved as it gives trainees the opportunity to be in the classroom from the start. Sandringham was my second school placement and from the outset I was impressed by the dedication of and talent in the MFL team. When I qualified as a teacher, I came back to Sandringham and it was definitely the right decision for me. I was attracted by the professional work environment, high quality of teaching and the comprehensive and regular training on offer. Teachers are encouraged and supported to develop their own practice and there are lots of opportunities to get involved with wider school life. Since being here I have taught 3 languages including German at A-level and have had the pleasure of taking part in a number of fantastic foreign exchanges and trips. I have also begun working with the Sixth Form team as a tutor, allowing me to use my skills from my previous career to help students prepare for their next steps after A-level. I regularly work with applicants for both Languages and Law degrees and particularly enjoy assisting with university applications and preparation for Oxbridge interviews. It is satisfying for me to be able to use my former career to help students on their way. " - Caroline, Teacher of MFL

This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wants to join a high performing school and gain significant experience to further enhance their career.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a track record of outstanding teaching and learning
  • have excellent subject knowledge
  • be inspiring, dynamic and passionate
  • promote Sandringham’s ethos and values

Graded ‘Outstanding’ in all areas at our last inspection, we offer a supportive environment with outstanding professional development and future career opportunities and a well-resourced, positive workplace. You’ll work with committed colleagues and benefit from a focus on staff well-being.

If you feel that this could be the right next step in your career, we would love to hear from you.
