Teacher of Music job summary

Teacher of Music Required: April, 2022 Salary: MPS/UPS, Part Time (0.6) or Full Time if also able to teach Drama. Are you ready for an exciting role as part of our thriving Performing Arts team, teaching music at Key Stages 3 and 4? This is a superb opportunity for an imaginative and aspirational teacher to join an established, successful and forward-thinking team. We’re looking for an excellent classroom teacher who wants to have a significant impact on the extra-curricular life of the school. The music role is part time (0.6), but we can offer a full-time position to a candidate able to deliver high quality teaching in another subject, particularly drama. It would also be beneficial for the successful candidate to be a competent piano player, although this is not a requirement. The successful candidate must have a passion for performance and a desire to help run existing music clubs as well as develop new clubs based on your skillset and the students’ interests. We run a vocational course at Key Stage 4, therefore knowledge of the BTEC curriculum and assessment would be an asset. Evidence of successful teaching at GCSE would also be desirable. The successful candidate will work in a supportive school where students achieve and make sustained progress as a result of our ‘can do’ ethos. If successful, we offer you the opportunity to work with a highly-motivated group of students and colleagues, where your contribution to the music team and the school as a whole, will be valued. Working in a friendly school community, we invite you to join us in our commitment to inspire every student with the skills, resilience, independence and confidence they need to achieve their potential. As a school, we have an extensive CPD programme to support you in your career. We also provide all our staff with a laptop computer. Excellent learning and teaching is at the heart of all that we do and is supported with a full professional development programme and outstanding induction programme. Selby High School is an equal opportunities employer. We have a robust child protection policy and are committed to safeguarding the welfare of our children and young people. Full details and an application pack are available from the school website: www.selbyhigh.co.uk. Visits can be organised by contacting the SLT PA, Caroline Airth on 01757 244833 or admin@selbyhigh.co.uk. Closing date: Noon on Friday 4th February 2022. Selby High School Leeds Road, Selby, North Yorkshire, YO8 4HT.
