What skills and experience we're looking for

King Edward VI School Lichfield is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Physical Education to join a dynamic, high-performing department. This role is being advertised as part-time but a full time appointment will be considered for a suitable candidate. For a full-time position, the ability to offer a second subject would be desirable. This post is suitable for a current classroom teacher or for an Early Career Teacher.

We are looking for a creative and adaptable teacher with a commitment to extra-curricular activities. There is opportunity for the appointed teacher to teach examination PE at key stage four and/or five. A specialism in rugby, football, and/or cricket would be beneficial, particularly for extra curricular activities. Excellent communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents are essential.

All Key Stage 3 & 4 students access two hours of core PE each week, with an extensive offer for extra-curricular sport which many of our students regularly attend in addition to their lessons. The extra-curricular offer extends to include students in sixth form, with opportunity to lead teams in a range of sports from Y7-13. In Key Stage 4 and 5, students can opt to take examination subjects in PE including GCSE PE, A-Level PE and BTEC Sport. These option subjects have a good uptake and have consistently achieved strong results.
