We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and innovative teacher of PE (with other subject) to join our PE faculty at Thomas Knyvett College. We are looking for an inspirational teacher with the ability to create a nurturing learning environment; a commitment to ‘Bringing out the Best’ in every student; and a genuine passion for their subject.
Teaching and learning is at the heart of everything we do at Thomas Knyvett College. We prioritise planning time for teachers with 16% PPA compared with the 10% national average. Thomas Knyvett College is a place where you really do have the space to teach. We encourage colleagues to try new things, take risks and have fun in the classroom. Our teachers are encouraged to be themselves whilst reflecting on the latest developments in pedagogy and how they can be applied. Central to our ethos are the positive relationships and personalised approach which we take with all our students.
At Thomas Knyvett, the Physical Education faculty consists of a dynamic team of five Physical Education specialists.
Leadership is a key theme within lessons, developed using the Sport Education model. Students a provided with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills further by leading sessions after school. The faculty offers a GCSE PE qualification (OCR) as well as a NCFE Health and fitness vocational qualification.
As extra-curricular activities are a focus, department members are expected to lead after school clubs on most evenings. The school completes a full and demanding fixtures calendar.
