The Castle School, Taunton, is looking for a passionate, dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Performing Arts with Dance specialism to join our outstanding department at The Castle School, to cover maternity leave, from January 2024.

What the school offers its staff
At The Castle School you will be joining an enthusiastic and hard-working team that includes Art, Drama, Dance, and Music. All students follow a varied Arts curriculum with specialist teachers through key stage 3, and benefit from a fantastic range of extra-curricular opportunities including clubs and groups, music tuition, concerts, plays, musicals, a Dance showcase, Variety Show, Community Concert and Art, Photography and Textiles exhibitions. We offer 6 Arts GCSE courses and 1 BTEC Courses and up-take at key stage 4 is excellent. The department is busy and thriving with an abundance of extra-curricular offers. In November we host our annual House Dance competition. In January we do a major school musical. In recent years we have put on Grease, School Of Rock, High School Musical and this year The Addams Family. In February we take our students on a Performing Arts tour to New York. Dance students perform at local festivals and events including Spring Forward. Students often go on to study Dance when they leave The Castle School and we currently have Castle Alumni at Italia Conti and Laine Theatre Arts amongst others.

The Blackdown Education Partnership is a multi-academy trust (MAT) working across Devon and Somerset. It was born of a merger between two established MATs: The Castle Partnership Trust and Uffculme Academy Trust and currently looks after a family of 12 schools: 6 primary and 6 secondary and 4 nurseries.
