Start Date: January 2026
Salary: MPS/UPS

Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher who inspires students to explore Philosophy and Religion through engaging, thought-provoking lessons? Consett Academy is seeking a Teacher of Philosophy and Religion to deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching KS5 for the right candidate. You will be accountable for student attainment, progress and outcomes, supporting each student to fulfil their individual potential within a supportive and challenging learning environment.

Working closely with the Head of Department and colleagues, you will develop and deliver well-planned, differentiated lessons that cater to all abilities and learning styles. You will use a variety of interactive teaching strategies and assessment methods to monitor progress, provide constructive feedback, and encourage student reflection. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive, respectful leaning environment are essential.

As part of your role, you will also contribute to the wider school community by supporting pastoral duties, acting as a tutor, and participating in extracurricular activities and events. You will be proactive in your own professional development, responding to feedback, collaborating with colleagues, and keeping your subject knowledge and pedagogy up to date.

We offer a welcoming and collaborative environment where your commitment to student progress and professional growth will be valued. Our schools provide access to ongoing training, opportunities to contribute to curriculum development, and the chance to work with a supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a Trust that prioritises both staff and student success.

If you have strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to inspire young people, we invite you to apply and join our dedicated team. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, providing a great chance to meet the team and see our learning environment first-hand.

Please note that we operate a probationary period of 6 months across all jobs in the Trust (see attached policy for further details). You will receive a comprehensive induction to support you to successfully pass your probation
