Teacher of Physics job summary
Teacher of Physics Full time, Permanent NQT / MPS / UPS We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Teacher of Physics to join our growing, dynamic and supportive school. We are looking for someone who is committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment. Here at Horsforth School, we aim to create opportunities and support achievement for our students and colleagues alike. We are an extremely supportive staff, where collaborative planning is encouraged in a vibrant staff workroom. As a department, workload is at the heart of our priorities, and to this end we support staff with a fully resourced KS4 scheme of work, with assessment and feedback opportunities that are clear and manageable. Evidence based practice is important to us, and as a department we seek to embed Rosenshine's 10 principles throughout our teaching and schemes. We want to allow new staff to explore and develop their teaching style and further their subject knowledge. To support this further we have a dedicated physics lab technician to support with practical elements of the curriculum. Physics at Key stage 5 is an extremely healthy, and high achieving, subject. We regularly fill 2 classes at AS and A2, where trips to the LHC and taking part in the British Physics Olympiad form part of our student experience. An exciting new build will be ready for September with 4 brand new fully stocked labs ready for teaching, making this a tremendously exciting time to be joining Horsforth school. Success is seen throughout our ambitious and consistently oversubscribed 11-19 school, which enjoys strong community and international links. Our commitment to excellence in education is recognised nationally. Ofsted describe us as a ‘good school with outstanding features’. For our 1500 students, Horsforth School provides an engaging environment of discovery and growth. For our colleagues too, this setting offers some great benefits. Located in north-west Leeds, the school is just five miles from the city centre with its thriving retail, leisure and cultural facilities, yet on the edge of open countryside. York, Harrogate and the Dales are within easy reach. If you’d like to find out more, please call 0113 226 5454.
