Teacher of Physics job summary
The Latymer School is an oversubscribed high achieving, but caring Grammar School in North London. Visitors comment on the warm atmosphere and the high levels of participation in extra-curricular activities that encourage students to foster and nurture their skills and interests beyond the confines of the curriculum. We are proud of our inclusive school community and there is a real passion for teaching and learning in a supported and welcoming atmosphere that inspires risk-taking and creativity. As a school, we are committed to developing the whole person and it is a place where you can really engage students in their learning and develop as a teacher.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Physics Teacher who has high expectation of students and themselves and who will motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their best at The Latymer Grammar School. The Science Department is well organised, resourced and provides a supportive working atmosphere for staff. All lessons are taught in modern laboratories as practicals form a large part of our practice.
Our Physics results are very high, the most recent externally graded results in 2023 being 88.4% of students achieving grades 7-9 at GCSE (with 32.7% achieving an A*, 54.5% A*/A, 78.2% A*/B and 90.9% A*/C). The AQA Triple Science course is followed at GCSE and classes are taught by subject specialists from Year 9. All our sciences are popular options at A Level and AQA AS/A2 course is followed at KS5.
This is a full-time and permanent position with a competitive salary and would suit either an experienced teacher or an Early Careers Teacher, who would be able to hone their teaching skills in a supportive environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach Science at KS3 and Physics to GCSE and A Level.
The school also provides a range of well-being activities and facilities including good transport links, free parking, a cycle to work scheme, use of the fitness suite and even massages by a qualified masseuse. The school also runs a number of national and international trips, and we even have our own residential centre in a beautiful part of North Wales which staff also use. We value our staff and the importance of maintaining a healthy work life balance.
If you would like to join this hard-working, able, and effective team of committed teachers, we would love to hear from you.
