What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and committed teacher who will embrace the varied curriculum and opportunities this role will provide, delivering an exciting and enriching curriculum. This post will commence in September 2023.
What the school offers its staff
The school was accredited as World Class in July 2021 and as such, we are committed to providing a world-class education for every student through a well-designed and balanced curriculum. Our established culture provides a calm, safe and stimulating learning environment. Our most recent Ofsted inspection identified that the school may have been classed as Outstanding if a full inspection had taken place.
Ethical leadership is at the core of all decision making at Southfield. As such, staff are valued, treated with respect and afforded a diverse range of opportunities that come with professional trust.
We place significant emphasis on working collegiately as a staff to share our expertise and subsequently enhance the learning experience with our students. Every member of the staff isinvolved in a variety of professional learning programmesthat take place every Wednesday across the academic year. All teachers are members of theChartered College of Teaching providing access to the latest evidence and research.
We have also implemented a bespoke leadership programme enabling staff to develop their knowledge and understanding of leadership at different levels. This has provided a number of promotional opportunities for staff within the school. Indeed, where possible, we will promote from within our school.
Moreover, we are committed to the Education Staff Well-being Charter, with numerous initiatives in place to support this. They include time for planning off-site for all teachers, active sessions in school and a broad range of workload reforms.
Further details about the role
The Social Sciences Department year on year achieves outstanding results, well above the national average. The department has grown rapidly over the last 3 years and currently includes A Levels in Psychology, Sociology and Politics in addition to Level 2 and 3 BTECs in Health and Social Care. Psychology is a very popular subject with a large take up year on year. Last year we widened our offer even further by introducing Level 3 applied Criminology which has become very popular. We are also introducing Law to our KS5 curriculum in September 2023. This successful department is a friendly, hard-working team, committed to stimulating students’ interest and enjoyment in their studies in addition to producing outstanding examination results
Commitment to safeguarding
Southfield School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place which we refer to in our prospectus. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy and other related policies to be found in the statutory information section.
