What skills and experience we're looking for
The school is looking for a highly motivated and committed Teacher of Psychology and Sociology. The successful candidate will teach the KS5 curriculum, ensuring that the challenging components are delivered in an inspiring and engaging way that meets the needs of all students. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established department and contribute to its ambitious vision for the future.
The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching the subject, with detailed knowledge of the current curriculum and pedagogical developments in Psychology and will share our desire to ensure that all pupils meet their potential in the subject through promoting the highest standards of teaching and learning.
Psychology is a popular subject at TBSHS with three A-Level classes in year 12 and a further three in year 13. Students follow the AQA syllabus including the optional topics of Stress, Forensic Psychology and Relationships. The students at TBSHS are highly motivated and produce high quality work. We are looking for an outstanding practitioner who can maintain high standards and further enhance the department’s success and popularity.
Sociology is also a popular subject at TBSHS and attracts a large number of applicants. There is currently one class of pupils studying A-Level Sociology in Year 12 and one class in Year 13. Students follow the AQA syllabus including the optional topics of Family and Households and Beliefs in Society.

Educating approximately 1250 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a thriving mixed sixth form of close to 400 students, including 120 female students. As a result of excellent teaching, our students consistently achieve fantastic academic outcomes at both GCSE and A-Level. “Behaviour is exemplary in lessons and around the school.” which means the school has a calm atmosphere and students are ready to learn.
