About Skipton Girls’ High School

We provide an excellent and challenging education which seeks to enable all students to make maximum progress in their learning and gain a great sense of personal development and achievement. We strongly believe in personalisation and encouraging enquiring minds. The school highly values the importance of developing a community environment in which mutual respect and individual talents are nurtured.

About You

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified, lively, high motivated specialist and innovative thinker to join our team. The successful candidate will be expected to play a full part in the academic, pastoral and social life of the school, to act as personal tutor and to take part in the school's programme of professional development.

We have a fantastic team of staff and you will be fully supported by an experienced faculty lead, who shares a vision of effective teaching and learning founded on collaborative planning, assessment and instruction, and who help each other to continually improve practice. We have an open-door culture and reflective ethos where we use lesson study to learn from each other all the time.

You will be able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of teaching, learning and personalisation strategies and be responsible for maintaining the highest quality of monitoring and evaluating whilst improving the standard of achievement for all students. You will be confident in your abilities to teach effectively at A-Level and a specialism in Psychology is essential. You will be adept in creating a supportive, encouraging and safe learning environment for students of all diverse backgrounds.

A TLR2A may be available for a suitably experienced candidate to take on the role of Curriculum Leader of Psychology.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing and thriving Multi-Academy Trust to develop your career in a nationally recognised school of excellence.

We can offer a commitment to your professional development, the opportunity to work in part with colleagues from primary and secondary schools across the MAT and the chance to be a part of something truly special. If you want to make a difference and are committed to improving life changes for children, we would love to meet you and show you around our fantastic school.

Skipton Girls’ High School is a high performing school located in the heart of Skipton, a vibrant market town in North Yorkshire, recently voted as one of the best places to live in the UK.

The school serves the local community within North Yorkshire and surrounding districts which cross into Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

The school is a successful 11-18 selective state school of 880 students recognised as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted two times in succession. Whilst the school is selective on entry to Year 7, Post 16 is comprehensive with girls joining us from over 20 different secondary schools across the region.

The majority of the school is housed in traditional buildings, however, on the 3rd December 2015 we were delighted to open our exciting new £1.8 million STEM centre. The centre provides us with innovative learning spaces built around the concept of enquiry based learning.
