What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational and committed teacher of RE.

We want a person who is passionate about learning and teaching RE up to A Level and who is willing to take part in and support the developing vision of the RE department.

We will welcome applications from those who are committed and determined to raise standards across all levels and abilities and to deliver RE to the highest standard.

What the school offers its staff

St Benedict’s is an 11-19 Catholic High School that serves a wide catchment area in West Cumbria. We are a true comprehensive with students of all abilities and diverse backgrounds.

Rated ‘Good with outstanding features’ by Ofsted, we are a larger than average school, housed in modern accommodation with extensive grounds.

Our school is situated on the Cumbrian coast on the edge of the Lake District National Park and not as remote as you might imagine! It is an easy drive or rail journey to work along some of the most scenic routes in the UK and living in Cumbria might be just the lifestyle change to suit you, with relatively low house prices. It really doesn’t rain all the time!

In January 2019 we moved to our new £33m school, which was individually designed (not an ‘off-the-shelf’ model!) and we have state of the art facilities including a full size, floodlit 4G astroturf pitch, sportshall, activity studio, pool, new grass pitches and tennis courts.

Commitment to safeguarding

St Benedict’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students. All applicants are subject to the requirements of the Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education guidelines. This will include checks with past employers and the need for the successful applicant to hold or undergo a suitable enhanced DBS disclosure.
