What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of RS and PSHE who would enjoy being part of our forward thinking Humanities team.
Cranbourne’s RS Department is well valued within the school and has a fully planned and resourced, knowledge rich, diverse curriculum with topics focusing on philosophy, religion and ethics. Currently, all students study the subject to GCSE through AQA with our optional religion being Buddhism. The RS department is committed to improving the life opportunities of every student through the taught curriculum and extensive extra-curricular offer and we would welcome applicants who can contribute to this.
PSHE is taught in dedicated lessons as part of curriculum time by specialists, including a Trustee of the PSHE Association. Lessons promote health, living safely and well in the wider world. As well as health, sex and relationships, lessons cover financial literacy and citizenship.
We have a wonderful community at school and the staff are a real team, working together to improve the life chances of our students. We therefore need a self-motivated and reflective teacher who has strong interpersonal skills and is an excellent team player.
What the school offers its staff
Cranbourne is a good school with a committed staff, a diverse student body and a friendly and supportive atmosphere. We are on the threshold of “outstanding” and are expanding due to our increasing popularity and number of students.
Cranbourne has a continual focus on improving subject specialist teaching and achievement; and we encourage staff to work with a high degree of independence. We have a welcoming staff body, who support each other at all times and maintain a good work - life balance. Religious Studies is part of the Humanities Department, which is a well - resourced area with its own teaching block, classrooms and staff room. The appointed teacher will have their own classroom as well as use of a dedicated RS office and a well-used and sociable humanities staffroom.
We support our staff with a good range of training opportunities, from collaborative twilights, to conferences, staff book groups and learning lunches. We offer an excellent induction programme, an exciting learning and teaching environment and first-class on-going professional learning opportunities to further enhance your career.
