What skills and experience we're looking for
Essential
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England, or on track to achieve QTS.

A strong subject knowledge in a science specialism/s, with the ability to teach across the age and ability range.

An enthusiasm for teaching science and inspiring pupils to develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning.

Understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies, including assessment for learning.
-
Ability to plan well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
-
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to establish a positive learning environment.
-
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
-
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
-
Willingness to engage in professional development and reflective practice.
Desirable
-
Experience of teaching science (during initial teacher training placements for trainees).
-
Familiarity with current GCSE science specifications.
-
An interest in developing innovative or engaging approaches to science teaching.
-
Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities or enrichment opportunities within the department.

Confidence in using technology to support teaching and learning.
Ability or willingness to teach outside of specialism and/or additional subjects eg Medical Science or Psychology.
