What skills and experience we're looking for
King Edward VI School Lichfield is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Biology teacher to join our high-performing successful department. This post is fixed term due to staffing changes in the department. The application deadline is 6 December but early applications are welcome and will be considered on receipt. While the current postholder is full-time there may be some flexibility for a suitable part-time candidate. We would ideally recruit a teacher with a specialism in Biology although the overriding priority is to secure an excellent practitioner so applications from Physics or Chemistry specialists will also be considered.
As a teacher you will teach Science up to at least GCSE and ideally specialise in Biology at Key Stage 4. Science is popular and successful from Key Stage 3 through to our thriving, successful Sixth Form. In 2023, 80% of Year 11 students achieved at least two GCSE science grades at 9-4 and for the large cohort taking the Triple Science pathway, 50+% of all results were at 9-7 grades. Progress is very strong at GCSE in both Separate Sciences and Combined Science. We have a strong uptake for A-level, with multiple groups for all sciences in both Year 12 & 13. We also teach a successful Level 3 Diploma in Medical Science. A level teaching may be available for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.
We are looking for a teacher with infectious enthusiasm, excellent communication skills alongside the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents. We expect the successful candidate to show a passion for their subject, work as part of a team and be willing to participate in all aspects of school life.
