The Science department at South Hunsley is a dynamic, and dedicated team who consistently achieve some of the best outcomes in our region. In Year 7 and Year 8 students are taught a range of science topics, before learning science in discrete subjects from Year 9 onwards. At GCSE, students either study the AQA Trilogy Combined Science course or can opt to study Separate Sciences, during the Year 9 Options process. At Key Stage 5, students can study A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and we also offer the BTEC Applied Science course. Students enjoy studying Science and appreciate the support from the department at South Hunsley; this can be seen in the large number of students choosing Separate Sciences at GCSE and students who continue studying sciences on our Sixth Form courses.
As a school, we are dedicated to providing a great teacher in every classroom and are committed to high-quality, collective teacher development. This helps us to reduce the replication of effort and helps all teachers to thrive in our setting. We do this by prioritising the continuing development of our staff.
