Teacher of Science job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Science Teacher to join our supportive and successful department on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2025.

A dedicated and experienced teacher with specialist knowledge in Science—whether in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a combination—you will be passionate about inspiring students, committed to ongoing professional development, and eager to create engaging and challenging learning experiences. With a positive attitude and a resilient nature, you will help students build confidence in scientific enquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking.

At Chatham Grammar, our Science department is committed to fostering a love of learning through high-quality teaching, hands-on investigations, and extra-curricular enrichment. We encourage students to explore how Science connects to real-life applications, global challenges, and future careers in STEM. As part of a Trust with strong links to the University of Kent, we offer excellent opportunities for professional development and collaborative working.

We offer our students a wide variety of educational opportunities with a commitment to ensuring that they achieve strong academic outcomes, develop healthy minds, and aspire to be happy, confident young women ready to embark on a variety of aspirational careers. Benefitting from being part of the University of Kent Academies Trust, we hold a current Ofsted rating of Good and are proud of our comprehensive website. We encourage applicants to visit for further information: http://www.chathamgrammar.org.uk.

How to Apply

Your application should be made after reading the job description and person specification, and you will use the application to tell us how your current skills and experience fit the requirements and why you think you would be suited to this role. CVs will not be accepted.

We are keen to attract top talent to our inclusive Trust, and therefore, we welcome applications from all people across the community spectrum regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, sexual orientation, disability, gender reassignment or age.

The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

In addition, the Trust will carry out an online search once as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is intended to help us identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online. The selection panel will then explore such items with the candidate during interview. The Trust’s HR Team or another member of staff trained in safer recruitment will use Google.com to conduct each search, and no adverse judgement will be formed for applicants with limited or no online footprint.
