What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher, who would be expected to teach across all age ranges and abilities. Experience teaching one or more A-Level Science subjects is advantageous, but is not essential.
- Relevant ‘A’ levels (or equivalent) and Degree
- Qualified Teacher Status or PGCE Pass (or equivalent)

The role of the Science Department is to work hard to ensure that all students feel safe and secure in their learning and strive to achieve academic excellence, underpinned by an ethos of continuous improvement by putting students and staff's needs at the forefront of what we do.
The team currently consists of a Head of Department, Subject Leads in Biology, Physics & Chemistry, four full time & two-part Science Teaching staff, plus a Senior Science Technician who leads three Science Technicians.
In addition, teaching and learning is supported across the school by a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants who support students with specific SEND requirements, so all students can access classroom learning.
We are an extremely well equipped with a wide range of new laboratory equipment which facilitates a key department ethos: the understanding that effective practical activities play a fundamental role in the effective teaching of the sciences.
Outside of the classroom, science students at Hampton Gardens are able to experience regular enrichment activities, including an active weekly STEM club which benefits from links with local businesses, as well as regular trips to universities and nation science competitions.

Hampton Gardens is an 11-19 free school which opened in September 2017 to an initial intake of 180 Year 7 students. When full, the school will accommodate 1200 students in years 7-11 and 300 students in Sixth Form.
Hampton Gardens is part of the Hampton Academies Trust who also run the highly successful and popular Hampton College all-through school, Hampton Lakes Primary School and Dogsthorpe Infant School. HAT schools have very close links and some shared staff.
