‘Pupils here are not taught just to pass exams. They acquire the skills and knowledge they need to be first-rate mathematicians, scientists, historians, and artists, among others.’ (Ofsted, November 2024).

We are a highly successful, community mixed comprehensive school with Teaching School status in a pleasant rural setting only 5 miles from the centre of Cambridge. We currently have around 2000 11-18 pupils on roll including in our sixth form centre that opened in September 2011. All three sciences, as well as Environmental Science, are extremely popular and successful A Level subjects.

As the school continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Science as an addition to our successful and supportive department, to add capacity particularly across our GCSE and A Level teaching. We would welcome applications from specialists in Biology, Chemistry or Physics who are willing to contribute in full to life in the Science department. Our pupils benefit from a highly experienced and collaborative department, and a myriad of extra-curricular opportunities, from trips as far afield as Costa Rica, and even a thriving robotics club!

Our pupils are well motivated, staff morale is excellent and examination results at KS4 and KS5 are very strong across our comprehensive intake. The school has consistently been rated by Ofsted as outstanding over very many years - our most recent Ofsted (November 2024) achieved ‘outstanding’ in all categories. Considerable work has been done on the curriculum to ensure it is highly effective in preparing pupils for their future, and is exciting to teach.

The successful candidate will need to be an enthusiastic, inspiring and motivating teacher who can demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and will ensure students have high aspirations and achieve their best. The post is suitable for ECTs or more experienced teachers, and we welcome applications from all backgrounds; we are very supportive of flexible working and have many colleagues who benefit from this.
