The Person

Are you ambitious and driven to succeed?

Are you passionate about Science?

If so, this is the school for you!

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated teacher of Science who will work within the Science Team in a department that is well-resourced and led by forward-thinking practitioners who are keen to ensure all students not only achieve well, but develop an enjoyment from there learning.

This would suit an ECT or an experienced teacher. This would be a fantastic opportunity for an ECT to experience our successful ECT programme and mentoring. There are also opportunities for further development.

This role offers potential for additional responsibilities/ progress within Thomas Deacon Academy as well as Fantastic Training/ CPD opportunities (including courses such as NPQSL) in a friendly supportive environment.

The Academy has a great history of success and a bright and exciting future. This is an excellent opportunity and comes at an exciting time for the Academy.

The Thomas Deacon Academy that we know today opened in 2007 as one of the UK’s first and largest academies. Whilst a building does not make a school, it is worth noting that Thomas Deacon Academy was designed by Norman Foster and Partners and in addition to our impressive main academy our beautiful 43-acre campus includes TDA Juniors - a modern, light, and purpose-built Key Stage 2 facility - and expansive playing fields and sporting facilities.

Moving forward, our vision for the academy is a simple one: we want every member of our learning community to be the very best that they can be and achieve their full potential.

The academy’s core values of Trust, Discipline and Aspiration define who we are as a community and how we learn together. We believe that every member of our learning community should have the highest expectations and standards, showing trust and discipline in all that we do.

In September 2018, a new extension to the existing main building led to new accommodation being created for a sixth form study centre, refectory expansion and staff professional learning centre.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a school within one of the well-regarded Trusts in the eastern region. The school has a great history of success and a bright and exciting future and we are looking for an ambitious and dynamic teacher to steer it through the next stage of its development. Collaboration, educational research and professional development are at the core of how the schools within Thomas Deacon Education Trust work together. With a clear focus on teaching at all levels, the Trust is well placed to provide great opportunities to promote Thomas Deacon Academy as a leading school and you will be given effective support to develop you personally as an outstanding teacher.

Why work at TDA?

We are part of the Thomas Deacon Education Trust and here are some of the excellent employee benefits on offer:

  • Continuous development, e.g. training, coaching
