Further details about the role
Skegness Grammar School are looking for a Science teacher to implement and deliver a rich curriculum and support the overall progress and development of our students. You will facilitate and encourage an engaging learning experience which provides students the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
We want to employ a teacher who wishes to embrace their own development, both in and out of the classroom, through deliberate practice in a supportive and approachable department. There are also opportunities to develop subject knowledge outside of specialism to ensure high-quality delivery across all year groups, through departmental CPD. In the department, lessons are fully responsive to students needs which are identified by using ratio techniques such as mini whiteboards, turn and talk and cold calling. We use booklets and actively use visualisers to model the use of tier 2 and 3 vocabulary and model how to break down complex problems.
We have a fully resourced curriculum and are supported by the Trust-wide leads for Science in its implementation at Skegness Grammar School. As a Trust, we do not want students merely to encounter information but want them to develop mastery, to identify links between curriculum areas and build on pre-requisite knowledge when new content is delivered. We believe in purposeful practical work to enhance our curriculum so students understand the why, not just the how.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.
Offers of employment may be subject to the following checks (where relevant):
childcare disqualification
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
medical
online and social media
prohibition from teaching
right to work

suitability to work with children
You must tell us about any unspent conviction, cautions, reprimands or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
