Teacher of Science job summary

Fairfield High School is seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, and inspirational science teacher – Fairfield has a positive and innovative learning culture supported by students, staff, parents, and governors.

We also have a vacancy for Director of Science & Computing too, with an allowance of TLR1A - £9,272 per year. For candidates wishing to also apply for Director, please indicate on your application form if you are interested in this post too – this is an opportunity to lead the department.

You will be joining a forward thinking, innovative and highly successful faculty. We welcome applications from ECTs as well as those who may be returning to teaching, and with a stable team of highly experienced science teachers can offer an outstanding mentoring programme. With your own lab you would join a team of eight science teachers each serviced by three Science technicians. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • The ability to teach science to at least GCSE level, including triple science.

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Excellent organisational and ICT skills

  • A high degree of initiative

  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a faculty team

  • The ability to motivate pupils and achieve excellent results

  • The ability to teach computer science would be desirable


The successful candidate needs to be familiar with the GCSE course. Candidates must have a good degree in science and have QTS.
