Teacher of Science FTC - (Two terms in the first instance) job summary

The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and inspirational Teacher of Science to join a successful Science team at Ashton on Mersey School.  This exciting opportunity will suit a candidate who has the following qualities, knowledge and skills:

  • Honours degree or equivalent, in a Science related subject (2:2 or above)
  • Qualified teacher status
  • Enthusiastic and outstanding classroom practitioner, to be able to teach Science up to GCSE standard
  • Full working knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements for specified subject
  • Be able to work as a member of a team
  • Be committed to ensuring that every pupil is given the opportunity to achieve their potential and meet the high expectations set for them
  • Take responsibility for personal and professional development and to keep up to date with research and development in both subjects and teaching methodology with a strong appreciation for the enthusiasm of how Technology can improve teaching and learning and contribute to a skill and capabilities-based curriculum
  • To be able to assist in the planning and organisation of school trips/visits
  • Ability to foster and maintain collaborative working relationships and the sharing of good practice
  • Ability to manage time effectively and deal with conflicting priorities
  • Develop and implement policies and practices which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement
  • To be able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff, parents and member of the community
  • Good organisational skills
