Teacher of Science (Maternity Cover) job summary

Copley Academy is a rapidly improving school. Our December 2021 Ofsted report describes the “great strides” that leaders have made and praises the “high aspirations” for students and the “broad and ambitious” curriculum. Most importantly, the report also says that students are “happy and proud” to attend the Academy.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional teacher of Science to join our forward-thinking Science department on a permanent basis. The successful applicant will be inspiring and have the ability to achieve excellent results. They must demonstrate passion for the subject and be able to motivate students. There will be an expectation to contribute to the planning and delivery of our curriculum at key stage 3 and key stage 4.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Outstanding teaching and interpersonal skills
  • A strong academic background with the ability to teach to GCSE
  • A demonstrable track record in leading student progress
  • Evidence of impact using quality first teaching
  • Evidence of ambition and a commitment to continuing professional development
  • The desire to maximise the performance of all students and the very best progress for all

The post is suitable for a newly qualified member of the profession or an experienced and successful teacher seeking an opportunity to work in a friendly and highly purposeful environment within a culture where we want all our students to ‘Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow’.

There will also be the opportunity to grow as a leader through a dedicated CPD package, that will equip the post holder for further future progression.

Great Academies Education Trust is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and the successful candidate will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The aims attempt to describe how life at Copley should be lived by all the people who work here - children and adults. This emphasis on the quality of everyday experience at Copley is the necessary foundation for achievement - in public examinations and in the development of responsible and active young people.

At Copley we believe in:
The right of everyone to be happy.
The need for everyone to respect each other.

The right of everyone to learn and develop.
The need for everyone to help each other.
We try hard to put them in to practice.
