Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College are seeking to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Social Sciences to join our thriving and ambitious department. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about their subject and can inspire students to achieve excellent academic outcomes.
The successful applicant will predominantly teach Key Stage 5 and will contribute to the continued success of a department with a strong track record of academic achievement. They will possess secure subject knowledge, an engaging teaching style and a determination to ensure that every student is supported and challenged to reach their full potential. Through high-quality teaching and effective assessment, they will develop confident, independent learners who are well prepared for their next steps in education, employment or training.
We are seeking a reflective and skilled practitioner who is committed to excellence in the classroom and who shares our high expectations for achievement, attendance and behaviour. The postholder will be a collaborative team member who embraces professional development and is keen to play an active role in the continued growth and success of the department and the academy.
About You
The successful candidate will be…
- A qualified teacher holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), preferably with a subject specialism of Psychology.
- Passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and learning that enables all students to achieve their full potential.
- An excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge across Social Sciences, including areas such as Psychology, Sociology or related disciplines.
- Skilled in creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters student engagement, achievement and wellbeing.
- Confident in using a range of teaching strategies, assessment methods and educational technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
- Committed to continuous professional development and able to contribute positively to departmental and whole-school improvement initiatives.

Ossett Academy is part of the Accord Multi Academy Trust which is a Wakefield based Trust; all four academies in the Trust are closely located to one another which lends itself to many opportunities to work closely and collaboratively. All academies are within a three-mile radius of one another and can be found a short drive off junction 40 of the M1.
