September 2023
We are expanding at unprecedented rates; our Year 7 cohort is due to triple in number from September 2023 and our whole school pupil numbers have risen 50% over the past two years.
This is an extremely exciting time to join our school and we are now hiring outstanding teachers to be part of our team from September!
Bexleyheath Academy is a non-selective comprehensive situated in the heartland of Kent grammar schools. When inspectors visited Bexleyheath Academy in July 2021, they said that the way in which pupils work in school has been "transformed", and that "there is a positive atmosphere in classes and around the school". Inspectors also said that the school "has completely changed" and have confirmed in their report that Bexleyheath Academy is officially a good school.
Inspectors commented that the team at the Academy "set students consistently high standards" and that pupils are "polite, friendly and considerate". They said that the students "actively demonstrate the school value 'be big-hearted'." Inspectors also confirmed that "Pupils make strong progress in their subjects, particularly English and Mathematics."
Bexleyheath has been on an incredible journey of improvement, from previously being in special measures to our current status as a good school and we have a fantastic team of friendly, happy staff in place who have worked hard to realise that transformation; students who are proud to be learning at the school and parents who firmly support the team here.
As a school of choice within the local community,
What the school offers its staff
As a result, we are actively seeking passionate and dedicated teachers across all departments who will join our team who work hard to ensure that our students go on to lead remarkable lives. We have students from all walks of life and will give each of them, no matter how difficult their start, access to every walk of life.
In terms of the broader school, we recognise that teaching and leading is a demanding career and it is our aim to make sure that staff who have chosen to join the profession are as well supported as they can be. We have a zero tolerance approach to anything that interrupts the learning in a classroom and our central team deals with all behaviour issues, non-completion of homework, phone-calls and detentions to make sure that teachers are as free as possible to do the three things that matter most: mark, plan and teach. You will not be covering colleague's lessons or lunchtime or gate duties and you will have dedicated PPA time each week. At Bexleyheath, we prioritise our staff's mental health and fiercely protect that work / life balance. Due to our approach, we have excellent staff retention rates.
We are currently accepting applications for this Teacher of Social Sciences role. Within this post, you will be teaching Health and Social Care, Psychology and Sociology. This is a varied and interesting role and the students really enjoy each of these subjects. We are looking for passionate teachers who have a passion for teaching. We warmly welcome visits to the school so you can see your relevant department in action and meet staff who you would be potentially working with from September. Our facilities are outstanding across the school so you would have all the tools available to you.
Further details about the role
Any position in education is inevitably laden with values and ideals and we are a school built on a shared ownership of these. We wish to give our students the very best start that we can in life and, through hard work and determination, we hope that these values and ideals start to take shape as something recognisable in the futures that we help build.
