What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a passionate, ambitious and inspirational part-time Teacher of Spanish, with the ability to teach another language, to join our outstanding Modern Foreign Languages department at The Castle School from September 2023. The successful candidate will join our outstanding Trust comprising two secondary schools and a growing number of primary schools.
What the school offers its staff
At The Castle School we have very high expectations of ourselves and of our students. We invest heavily in our staff and have a superb reputation for outstanding support and development for teachers, particularly for ECTs.
We offer an exciting and rewarding place to work, with access to the highest quality professional development, which ensures you are at the forefront of teaching and learning innovation. Our students are keen to learn and succeed; they appreciate their teachers’ support and dedication.
We can offer you: An opportunity to work in an experienced and supportive team from whom you can learn, develop and grow. A friendly, busy and dynamic workplace where each day is different from the last. A competitive salary. Wider opportunities to be involved across our Trust. An energised and professional working environment.
Further details about the role
We are proud of our broad offer of languages at The Castle School. Four languages are taught - French, German, Mandarin and Spanish - and students are able to choose the languages that they study. The department is ambitious and experienced and currently consists of 6 teachers.
We have consistently high expectations of students and the level of vocabulary, structures and grammar that they are using. We use authentic materials where possible to enable students to learn about and understand the countries where the target language is spoken. We aim to help them to develop an intrinsic motivation to explore and respect other cultures and to become curious about the wider world, alongside deepening their linguistic knowledge.
We promote a love of languages in our lessons and also offer a very wide range of extra-curricular languages activities for our students. In addition, we have established strong links with partner schools abroad and also run study visits. For Spanish there are opportunities to support the existing exchange and to introduce future study visits.
At GCSE level, our outcomes are excellent and we have healthy numbers of students who choose to study a language at A level when they leave The Castle School.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Castle Partnership Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work here to share this commitment. The successful candidates will be subject to enhanced DBS disclosures.
