What skills and experience we're looking for
Candidates suitable for the role will:
- be confident in teaching Spanish to Key Stage 4 and both Spanish and French to Key Stage 3 students. New teachers will be supported in developing the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching to A level over a period of time
- be confident in teaching both languages to high achieving students
- be an excellent classroom practitioner, who is prepared to engage with evidence based research in their teaching
- be willing to use a range of strategies to teach across the ability range
- be passionate about personal and professional development and demonstrate a willingness to engage with the findings of evidence-based research through our whole school CPD programme.
- help extend and enrich students’ school experiences beyond the curriculum
- have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents

Further details about the role
Both Spanish and French are popular subject choices at GCSE and A Level, with a number pursuing dual language GCSEs. Our languages departments supported the achievement of an extraordinary set of grades in the summer with 96% of Spanish and 83% of French GCSE grades respectively at level 9-8, and 100% A*-A in both languages at A level. Both languages are ably supported by specialist Foreign Language Assistants.

The Tiffin Girls’ School, a selective state school and stand-alone Academy, is a vibrant and happy community where the students take centre stage. The school is currently home to 1,235 students, aged between 11 and 18, and is now into its 143rd year. The school is a six form entry selective school, with 180 students in each year group and over 340 in the Sixth Form.
