Organisation

The Creative Industries faculty was newly
formed in May 2020 in order to develop and promote D&T and Food. We have
great support from SLT and the Headteacher to build and develop the faculty.
The faculty has 4 teaching staff and 2 technicians. We are a team made up of
experienced staff and those newer to the role. You join us at an exciting time
as we start to build on the solid curriculum foundations, we have built over
the last 12 months to push the faculty and subjects forward with the aim in the
medium and long term to put sustainability in D&T and Food at the centre of
our curriculum.

We are looking for someone who is equally passionate
about their main subject of Design & Technology and sustainability. We want
to innovate within D&T and Food Prep & Nutrition to prepare our
students to be the ecologically aware chefs, designers, consumers of the
future.

Members of the faculty also have pastoral
roles as form tutors.

Accommodation

The faculty is situated in a building shared
with Art, Business, Media, IT and Computing. We have two workshops, two
classrooms and access to computer suites. There is one food room with 12 ovens,
and a food technicians prep room. All members of the department are currently based
in their own teaching room and movement between rooms is kept to a minimum to
support teaching and learning.

The curriculum

We welcome applications from experienced
teachers who can make a whole school contribution, coupled with the enthusiasm
to make a real difference to our students.

We are proud of the foundation curriculum we
have laid in the past 12 months and are on a 2 year development curve to refine
and innovate. We are keen to welcome new ideas and approaches that are
supported by educational research.

KS3 and KS4 are taught in mixed ability
classes. All core elements of the GCSE are incorporated into the KS3 Schemes of
Learning.

Students are taught RM and Food at KS3. At KS4
we offer AQA GCSE Design & Technology and Eduqas GCSE Food Preparation
& Nutrition.

We are moving away from the traditional
carousel model at KS3 to a model where staff stay with their KS3 classes
rotating through the D&T and Food projects with them. Relevant training and
support will be provided to upskill the successful candidate.

If you are an enthusiastic teacher with
the desire to make a real difference for our students, we would like to hear
from you.
