What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking someone with:

  • A passion for teaching and learning and a sound subject knowledge, that can be utilised to challenge all pupils.
  • The ability to motivate, inspire and stimulate curiosity, interest and enjoyment of Design Technology in pupils.
  • The ability to be a/or become an excellent classroom practitioner with creative teaching skills and a professional approach. We would welcome applications from ECTs.
  • High expectations of pupils in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour.
  • The determination to raise pupil achievement.
  • Good team skills.

Exhall Grange Specialist School is a county-wide specialist provision for pupils aged between 4 and 19 on the outskirts of Coventry. The school meets the needs of pupils who are unable to access the curriculum in a mainstream school owing to their sensory impairment or physical disabilities or the impact of long-term illness or social communication difficulties including autism. The site is campus style with six separate buildings and has an exceptional range of facilities including a swimming pool, gym, sensory room, soft playroom and enterprise kitchen as well as design technology facilities and science laboratories. The school’s outside space comprises of a large sports field, forest school and hard tarmac playground areas. We offer a mainstream curriculum and endeavour to break down barriers to learning. Through high quality teaching and personalised support, we aim to unlock the potential of every pupil so that they leave our school as well-rounded citizens, ready to embrace the next step of their learning journey.
