What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you passionate about the Arts and have the ability to deliver high quality lessons and achieve excellent results? Then come and join a high performing and forward thinking Art & Design Technology team at Rainhill High School, including Rainhill Sixth.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and creative Textiles and DT teacher with excellent interpersonal skills, who has a thirst for knowledge and can inspire young people to develop and creatively explore their ideas, skills and confidence in a range of creative and technical disciplines.
The successful candidate will be an inspirational practitioner and have a genuine commitment to teaching at KS3 & KS4 and developing a love of the creative arts. There will be an opportunity to teach KS5 as subject demands increase.
This post is a fixed term contract initially until 31st August 2022.
Applications are welcome from both DT Textiles teacher and Art Textiles teacher backgrounds, as the ability to teach both subjects is advantageous. Experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply.
Good Degree or equivalent in relevant subject area
PGCE in relevant subject area
QTS/QTLS
Evidence of further professional development at Masters level.
Familiarity with the KS3 and KS4 requirements in Design & Technology (Textiles)
Familiarity with the A level and L3 BTEC syllabus requirements in Design & Technology
Portfolio of Work that clearly shows pupil progression leading to ‘Outstanding’ pupil outcomes.
Track record of excellent examination results
To be able to articulate a vision for learning
Ability or experience of teaching Design Technology (Art Textiles) to KS4 &5
Evidence of excellent teaching – at least Good judgments
Evidence of “Outstanding” practice
Evidence of inclusive practice
Evidence of substantial contribution to and promotion of extra-curricular activities and enrichment

Rainhill High School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form centre located in Rainhill, Merseyside, England.
The school converted to an academy under Rainhill Learning Village in March 2017. More recently, the school has become part of the Stephenson Trust.
