We are seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf. In this position, you will work within the Hearing Loss Provision, supporting up to 5 pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will provide specialist teaching for deaf students, helping them to achieve their full potential in an inclusive setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching deaf pupils in one-to-one work, in small groups and mainstream lessons whilst encouraging pupils to become independent learners. They will also ensure the personal, social and academic development of those with hearing loss.
The successful candidate must hold a Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) qualification, training could be provided for the right person. You will join an established Hearing Loss team, offering specialist resource provision to deaf pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct teaching and support to deaf pupils, including signed support where required.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to enhance the learning experience.
- Develop and implement individual education plans.
- Monitor and evaluate pupil progress, adjusting interventions as needed.
- Support the development of a positive and inclusive school environment.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Qualified Teacher of the Deaf status (QTOD)
- Experience working with deaf pupils and knowledge of relevant communication methods. Experience of teaching or working with deaf pupils in a secondary school setting is highly desirable.
- Understanding of SEN legislation and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
