What skills and experience we're looking for

Please note this vacancy is not suitable for ECTs.

Are you passionate about SEND? Are you a creative and dedicated teacher with a commitment to breaking down barriers to learning? If this sounds like you then we want to hear from you! The TLR allowance will be awarded for the teaching of pupils in our established SEND ‘in house’ provision.

We are seeking an outstanding teacher with a proven track record of achieving excellent outcomes for SEND learners to lead our provision class and who can also demonstrate how they have supported colleagues in achieving the best outcomes for SEND learners, particularly learners with complex communication needs. Within the role of teaching and leading our provision class, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with our SENDCO.

Children in our SEND provision class receive a specialist curriculum to support their individual needs and a sensory based approach focused on development rather than age. The successful postholder will be responsible for teaching our provision pupils by supporting them to overcome barriers to learning as well as supporting their access to aspects of the mainstream classroom. A commitment to play based, experiential learning both indoors and outdoors is essential.

The post would suit a teacher with experience of working with pupils with additional learning needs in either a mainstream primary or specialist setting. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate the knowledge and experience to be the lead teacher of a group(s) of SEND learners with complex needs and in doing so effectively use and deploy resources including a small team of Inclusion Support Assistants.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • exemplary teaching skills to meet complex learning needs.
  • the knowledge and experience to be the lead teacher of a group(s) of SEND learners with complex needs and a proven track record of achieving excellent outcomes for SEND learners.
  • the ability to contribute to the further development of our team by being a role model to all colleagues through sharing the best inclusive practice to enable SEND learners to achieve their full potential.
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure strong partnership workings with parents, colleagues and professionals from other agencies.
  • that they can contribute to securing/embedding provision for learners in receipt of or on the pathway for an EHCP.
  • that they can carry out the professional responsibilities of a teacher, including those responsibilities delegated by the headteacher.
  • is supportive of the Catholic ethos of the school.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please can you ensure you state within your application your expertise, skill set and experience including illustrating your contribution to achieving strong outcomes for SEND learners.

We would encourage any prospective applicant to arrange a visit to come and see the provision in action. We are proud of what we have created and are looking for someone to sustain and build upon this.

Closing Date: Monday 20th May at 12 noon

Please note only applications on the CES application form will be considered.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
