What skills and experience we're looking for

A unique opportunity awaits a highly skilled ambitious professional, to work with our pupils who have a wide range of Special Educational Needs. Students follow a curriculum that develops aspects of the National Curriculum adapted to suit the needs of our pupils ranging from early developmental levels through to KS4/5 Entry Level accreditations. The successful candidate will need a Primary skill set ideally, but be able to relate to older pupils or will be willing to learn phonics and early maths teaching.

We are looking for a teacher with a clear understanding, or deep interest in working with pupils with a range of complex needs. Both knowledge and experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs would be advantageous along with a having an innovative approach to teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be able to motivate and challenge pupils whilst supporting and committing to high standards, using holistic and creative strategies to enable pupils to access learning and make progress, whilst supporting the school’s motto of ‘Achievement beyond expectation’.

The successful candidate will be a calm and flexible person whilst having a child centered approach to their teaching pedagogy.

What the school offers its staff

Sidestrand Hall School is a Complex Needs School for pupils aged 7-18 with a wide range of needs, including moderate and severe learning difficulties as well as speech and language, social interaction and communication difficulties and SEMH. The school currently has 194 on roll with all students having an Education, Health and Care plan.
