Teacher (Specialist SEND Classroom) - 2 Year FTC job summary

"During our recent outdoor activity day, seeing our Burrow pupils confidently manage bushcraft and archery because of our excellent team was incredibly rewarding. It is really important to us that we work collaboratively to ensure no child is left on the sidelines of school life." School Business Manager.

In this specialist primary setting, your teaching goes beyond the standard curriculum delivery. You will design and adapt learning spaces and experiences for a group of up to 9 pupils with significant speech and language needs, so that they can fully participate in all aspects of school life. Working alongside an experienced team of support staff, you will be the architect of a safe, predictable, and highly supportive learning environment.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven experience within a primary or specialist SEND setting.
  • An evidence-informed understanding of adaptive teaching strategies for complex learning and communication needs.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to deploy and lead classroom support staff effectively.
  • A calm, predictable presence grounded in relational trust and positive behaviour frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with parents, therapists, and external agencies.

What we can offer:

  • A warm and welcoming school with a pastoral, caring atmosphere and a clear vision
  • Hard-working, established Teaching Assistants and a strong, supportive, hands-on SLT
  • The autonomy to adapt your classroom environment and routines to best serve the specific profiles of your pupils.
  • A quirky working environment, with fantastic outdoor facilities including a large sports field, a forest-school Dell and a Library Bus
  • The opportunity to make a significant impact on our children and our school
  • The RLT Connection: Professional Security: recognised continuous public sector service and a secure, government-backed pension (Teachers' Pension Scheme); Shared Growth: access to the digital learning hub, cross-Trust specialist networks, and funded pathways for high-quality CPLD; The Whole Person: a formal commitment to considering flexible working where possible, alongside a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme for you and your immediate family.
