What the school offers its staff

Our college can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment with a culture of openness and transparency. We place great emphasis on the wellbeing of our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this. You will also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you. Staff flourish at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College and we offer ongoing career advancement for staff at all levels.

Further details about the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit two Grade 3 Teaching Assistants to work together to support a Year 7 student who is joining our school in September 2025. This student is a young person with complex medical needs. The role involves providing nursing and personal care alongside supporting the student in all curriculum areas and ensuring safe mobility around the school site. The successful candidates will undergo training if needed in a variety of clinical areas such as gastrostomy feeding, and skin care using a competency based framework. You will receive continued support in the role.

Due to the complex medical needs of the child, this post will ideally commence on Monday

2 June 2025 and will initially involve working at Lyppard Grange Primary School in order to gain an understanding of the child’s medical and learning needs, undertake the required medical and other statutory training and support the student’s transition to Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College in September 2025.

You will need to have appropriate levels of literacy, numeracy and communication skills necessary to carry out the role. Experience of working with children who have complex health problems would be beneficial but not essential. A driving licence is desirable as travel to the student’s home may be required.

Commitment to safeguarding

Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This position is therefore subject to past employment references, social media/online checks and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

We are a Catholic community of aspiration, dedicated to all our students excelling spiritually and academically in our college and beyond. Our vision is that all members of our community play their part in making the world a better place. In order for society to flourish we must strive to be people of good character as described by our college virtues. We change lives through our culture of high standards and expectations of everyone who learns and works in our school and a belief that achievement is for all. When visitors come to our college they regularly comment on three things – our distinctive Catholic ethos, how forward thinking we are and how well we focus on the really important aspects of our students’ education.
