The Governors are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to join our friendly, caring school. The main responsibility will be to work 1-1 with a child with specific high needs in our Year R class. This will include attending to personal and social needs of pupils and promoting good pupil behaviour. Hours of work, Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 3.15pm.

The job is linked to a specific high needs child and hence is fixed term for the duration of their attendance.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • To attend to the personal and social needs of pupils and any other special requirements depending on the nature of a pupil’s special needs.
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of pupils while encouraging constructive relationships within the classroom.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individual Education/Behaviour plans and Personal Care programmes.
  • Undertake agreed learning activities, adjusting activities according to pupil responses, recording achievement and feeding back to the teacher.

The key skills / qualifications required for this post are:

  • NVQ 2 or equivalent in Teaching Assistance or equivalent experience.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Can use basic IT and other technology effectively to support learning.
  • Experience of working with or caring for children of the relevant age.
  • Relates well to children and adults.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under own initiative or as part of a team.
