Permanent position

Our Lady of Compassion Catholic School is seeking to appoint a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant team. This unique role involves working both within our school and in Footsteps, our Before and After School Club. If you are committed to making a real difference in children's lives, embodying Catholic values, and fostering a love for learning, we are keen to hear from you.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Committed to upholding the Catholic ethos of our school.
  • Enthusiastic about supporting children's academic and personal growth.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
  • Patient, nurturing, and able to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • Reliable and punctual, particularly for the early morning club.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide in-class support to pupils across various age groups, assisting with their learning and development.
  • Work with small groups and individual children, tailoring support to their specific needs.
  • Help prepare learning resources and maintain an engaging classroom environment.
  • Implement exciting activities and engage children in Footsteps, school’s Before & After School Club, ensuring a safe and positive start to their day.
  • Support the school's mission statement in all aspects of your work.

We are a welcoming and supportive school community where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our mission, 'to live as Jesus taught us,' truly underpins everything we do, creating a unique and enriching environment for both pupils and staff.

This position offers a unique opportunity to build strong, holistic relationships with our pupils, seeing them flourish from the very start of their day through to their in-school learning. Working within Footsteps allows you to create a calming yet engaging environment before the school day officially begins. Children enjoy a variety of enrichment activities including creative crafts, engaging board games, quiet reading corners, and supervised free play, all designed to foster a sense of community and prepare them for learning.

Your presence in both Footsteps and the main school provides a vital link, offering continuity and a familiar, friendly face for our pupils. This seamless transition supports their emotional well-being and enhances their overall school experience. You will gain a deeper understanding of each child's individual needs and personalities, enabling you to provide even more effective and tailored support throughout the school day. This truly embodies our mission, as you will be nurturing each child in the spirit of Jesus' teachings, from the moment they arrive..

We can offer a supportive working environment, where all staff are valued and where opportunities to share best practice and ideas is supported and encouraged.
