Help Every Child Thrive

Are you passionate about making a real difference in children's lives? Do you have the skills, compassion and dedication to support pupils to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

Connect Multi-Academy Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing and committed Teaching Assistant to join the team at Pelton Primary School.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a caring and inclusive school community where every child is valued, supported and encouraged to succeed. Working alongside teachers and wider school staff, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, develop independence and celebrate success every day.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have experience of supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and a strong understanding of nurture-based approaches. The successful candidate will be able to build positive and trusting relationships with children, provide emotional support when needed and help pupils develop the resilience, confidence and self-regulation skills required to engage successfully with learning and school life.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of teaching staff to support pupils' learning, progress and wellbeing. You will:

  • Support learning activities within the classroom and through targeted interventions.
  • Work with individual pupils, small groups and occasionally whole classes.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress and behaviour.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development.
  • Help create a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the implementation of individual support plans and additional provision where required.
  • Support pupils to develop independence, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children.

The Person We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about inclusion and understands the importance of supporting the whole child, both academically and emotionally.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A nationally recognised Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, such as NNEB, BTEC Level 2 or CACHE Level 2.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Recent experience of working with children in an educational setting.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A calm, positive and professional approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Experience of supporting children with SEND, communication difficulties, autism, additional needs or individual support plans would be advantageous.
