Teaching Assistant job summary

We are looking for a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at Birch Hill Primary School. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children—supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing across the school community. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils thrive both academically and socially in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

In this varied and fulfilling role, you will:

• Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for pupils.
• Work with small groups or individual children to reinforce learning and support progress.
• Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and day-to-day routines.
• Work flexibly across different classes and year groups, supporting teachers and pupils to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Foster strong, nurturing relationships with children, encouraging their independence, confidence, and engagement in learning

We are looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about supporting children with a range of needs.
• Is enthusiastic, patient, and passionate about supporting children’s learning
• Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Can build positive, trusting relationships with children and staff
• Is reliable, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Can show initiative and a proactive approach to supporting learning and wellbeing

The successful candidate will:

• Be hard-working, committed, and able to inspire and motivate children at all levels
• Support the emotional and social development of children
• Help deliver engaging activities and interventions that promote learning and positive behaviour
• Be confident in managing behaviour in a calm and supportive manner
• Understand and follow safeguarding, health and safety, and first aid procedures

Birch Hill Primary School (BHP)
Birch Hill Primary School is a two-form entry community school serving the Birch Hill and Hanworth areas of Bracknell Forest. In addition to the main school, we offer a nursery and a Specialist Resource Provision for children with ASD and MLD.
