What skills and experience we're looking for

Dinton Church of England Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its friendly team and provide one-to-one support to a pupil with additional needs.

Working Hours: Part Time (15 hours, 3-4 days per week, 39 weeks per year including Teacher Training days).

Required: ASAP.

We are an aspirational school, educating children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. Located in the village of Dinton, in the Nadder Valley, Wiltshire, we have close links with the local community, surrounding villages and St Mary’s church. Everything we do in school is rooted in our Christian vision ‘Happy Learning for a Healthy Future’ and our staff are committed to encouraging all children to succeed by giving them chances to develop responsibility, show respect for others and be truthful individuals. We pride ourselves on setting high standards to provide the best education across a broad and balanced curriculum, which aims to provide all our pupils with opportunities to reach their full potential, and prepare them as life-long learners. We continue to be rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted, following our short inspection in 2019, and joined Acorn Education Trust in 2023, which provides exciting opportunities to collaborate and improve local education.

The role will require you to provide specific support to a child with complex needs, so experience in behaviour management and SEND is advantageous. Responsibilities include providing general classroom support, meeting the pupil’s emotional and social needs and liaising with other teaching and SENCO staff in the development and delivery of an adaptive curriculum.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for young people;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
  • Enjoys working with children and can develop good working relationships with them;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Can be a strong team player as well as use your own initiative;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of children, including their social and emotional needs;
  • Has experience of supporting pupil’s learning;
  • Has experience working with children with SEND (advantageous).

What the school offers its staff

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An ambitious and vibrant place to work, with enthusiastic children and staff who are passionate about learning;
  • A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
  • Opportunities for training and progression;
  • The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
  • A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
