Teaching Assistant (20 hours per week) job summary

We have an opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in EYFS/KS1. The role will include working in classroom, small group support as well as supporting pupils with SEND in a Transition Hub Provision. The role will include the role of a Play Leader/Midday Supervisor.

This is a part-time temporary position for 1 year (with a possibility to extend) working 20 hours per week, (8:45 - 1.00pm), 5 days per week, term time only (38 weeks and 2 days per year).

Someone who is passionate, motivated and enthusiastic about helping all children, supporting and encouraging them as they strive to achieve their goals.

The successful candidate will be required to set up learning areas, lead intervention groups and support children with learning needs as well as occasionally being responsible for the whole class, working in partnership with class teachers and other teaching assistants.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • previous experience working with children
  • a love of working with children and the ability to inspire learning and support development.
  • good subject knowledge in reading, writing and maths to assist the teacher in delivering the lessons
  • an understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum (would be an advantage)
  • high expectations of yourself and of children
  • a good standard of education together with good numeracy and literacy skills. With English and Maths GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • excellent interpersonal skills and a be good team player
  • good communication skills
  • flexibility
